Gifted and talented children are present in all races, ethnicities, genders, gender preferences, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic backgrounds. However, some groups have been historically underrepresented in gifted and talented education, including students who are culturally or linguistically diverse, from low socioeconomic backgrounds, or are both gifted and learning disabled, which is referred to as “twice-exceptional” or 2e.
