Acceleration: An Effective Option
February 26, 2020 at 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST| Free – $25
Expert Speaker: Dr. Laurie Croft
University of Iowa School of Education
Acceleration is “one of the cornerstones of exemplary gifted education practices, with more research supporting this intervention than any other in the literature on gifted individuals.” (NAGC Position Statement on Acceleration). Why are we afraid of “acceleration?” What have we learned that can overcome myths and misunderstandings? Acceleration is more than grade-skipping; acceleration includes at least 20 different forms/types that provide options that serve student needs. In this webinar, Dr. Laurie Croft, parent of a radical accelerant, talks about what the research has taught us about acceleration, as well as facilitating acceleration for one of her daughters.
Laurie Croft, Ph.D., is the Associate Director for Professional Development at the Connie Belin & Jacqueline N.
