Gifted and talented children are present in in all races, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds. However, some groups have been historically underrepresented in gifted and talented education, including students who are culturally or linguistically diverse, from low socioeconomic backgrounds, or are both gifted and learning disabled, which is referred to as “twice-exceptional” or 2e. School systems can serve the diverse range of gifted and talented students by providing educational opportunities and resources to meet their unique needs.
