Certificate and Degree Programs

Johns Hopkins University offers both master’s degree and graduate certificate programs in Gifted Education, with courses available online and in-person.

The Gifted and Talented Education Specialist (GATES) certificate program at McDaniel College prepares teachers with initial certification to meet the curriculum, assessment, and instruction needs of academically talented students. This program is designed for practicing prekindergarten-12 educators who seek to gain expertise in the field of gifted and talented education. Students enrolled in the master’s in Curriculum and Instruction program may pursue the certification as a specialization. Coursework is aligned with the state of Maryland’s Gifted and Talented Education Specialist certification requirements and National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) standards.

The Master of Arts in Gifted and Talented Education at Notre Dame of Maryland University provides educators with the knowledge and skills to effectively teach the brightest and most promising young minds and to assume leadership roles in gifted education. The master’s and certificate programs meet Maryland state requirements for certification as a specialist in gifted and talented education.
